A heartfelt THANK YOU from INSPIRE!africa
Thank you, thank you, thank you! INSPIRE!africa’s annual gala fundraiser, held Thursday, November 20th, was another night for the books. Once again our dedicated donors respvonded to the call for help and raised an unprecedented $114,000. We are blown away by the continued generosity and cannot reiterate enough how much these funds will mean to the survivors that INSPIRE!africa support in Rwanda.
The evening was filled with all sorts of entertaining events– from the competitive and popular silent auction tables, the Primates-a-Go-Go Christmas decorations and beautiful art cards for purchase, to the fun Rwandan dance performance. There were delicious appetizers and cocktails served throughout our beautiful venue, Webster Galleries.
During the presentation we heard accounts of Rwanda during the time of the genocide from Lucky Elijah, unveiled the INSPIRE!africa animal print series by local artist Graham Diehl and received a progress report of INSPIRE!africa activities from Margaret. The short film ‘Making a Difference’ filmed by our volunteer Roy Christie in Rwanda during INSPIRE!africa’s 2014 volunteer trip was screened during the event. The film gave us a first-hand look at many of the programs INSPIRE!africa supports as well as the opportunity to meet several of the survivors who benefit from them. You can view the film on our website at www.inspireafrica.org.
Over the course of the evening donations were made to build two new houses and purchase two cows for widows in need. The evenings events came to a close with a beautiful Rwandan dance performance from Clotilde, Jeanette and Ester who never hesitate to get the whole crowd up and moving!
Missed this year’s event? You can still show your support!
