Calling all INSPIRE!africa supporters!

Our favorite time of the year is almost here! We’re  a month away from INSPIRE!africa’s 8th Annual Gala Fundraiser in support of widows and orphans of the Rwanda genocide. We count on your continued support to make this event the wonderful evening that it is. We have no doubt that this year’s fundraiser will be another great success. Last year we raised a tremendous $95,000! This year we hope to reach and exceed last year’s total.

When: November 20th, 4:30 to 7:30 pm
Where: Webster Galleries, 812 11th Avenue SW, Calgary
Cost: $50.00 – advanced purchase necessary, send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

This year our theme is Remember - Unite – Renew: Journey to Rwanda 20 years after the Genocide. There will be a screening of our latest short film entitled “Making a Difference” where you will see how INSPIRE!africa is turning desperation into hope.

We will have a special guest Emcee, Lucky Elijah Gasangwa. Lucky Elijah is Rwandan and although he was living in Uganda at the time of the 1994 genocide, he experienced the horrors just the same.

At the fundraiser you will have the opportunity to hear how Lucky Elijah grew up in Uganda facing discrimination because he was Rwandan, what he witnessed when he returned to Rwanda months after the genocide and his perspectives on reconciliation from working for Prison Fellowship International, an organization which provides various services in Rwanda’s prisons.

When he is not managing a government security program, Lucky Elijah is an entertainer,  musician and a DJ.

The evening will also include a silent auction and performances by Rwandan dancers. There will be hors d’oeuvres served throughout the evening and a cash bar.

We will be selling Rwandan Christmas decorations imported by Primates A-Go-Go (www.primatesagogo.com) as well as unveiling a new series of Rwanda themed art created by Graham Diehl. We will also have the popular art cards and now posters for sale, thanks to our very talented Calgary artists: Karen Aasen, Stella Bowers, Graham Diehl, Jamie Lafond and Theresa Simons.

We will kindly be asking for donations; cash and cheques are preferred. We look forward to spending another great evening amongst new and old friends in support of Rwanda’s survivors!

Can’t make THE event of the season? Don’t sweat it!

If you can’t make it but you would like to show your support, you can send a donation to INSPIRE!africa by completing the donation form on our website.
