Last November’s Fundraising Gala was a huge success raising a total of $95,000.

The donations allocated to specific causes has, so far enabled the purchase of: 9 houses, 45 goats, 3 cows, 12 beehives and bees, 37 hygiene kits, salaries for the Learning Centre teachers. These purchases will help change the lives of many widows and orphans of the Rwandan genocide. The purchase of something as simple as a goat can go miles in helping a woman or child provide for themselves.

The INSPIRE!africa Board is discussing with our Rwandan partners how the rest of the money from general donations will be allocated. An enormous thank you, once again, to all of our many supporters!

We are happy to introduce two new INSPIRE!africa volunteers!

Diane Altwasser has joined the INSPIRE!africa team as a Board member. Diane has been an INSPIRE!africa supporter since our very first fundraiser in 2007. She participated on the 2012 Volunteer Trip to Rwanda.  She brings with her considerable experience in the non-profit sector as well as her enthusiasm and organizational skills. We are thrilled to have Diane join us!

Lynn Morin has joined the INSPIRE!africa team in the role of donor appreciation and website coordinator. Lynn has also been an INSPIRE!africa supporter since our very first fundraiser in 2007. She brings with her experience with website and newsletter development. She also has a knack for event planning; engaged and enthusiastic from the initial idea until the last ‘thank you’ has been said. We are thrilled to welcome Lynn and her creativity to the team!

Seeking Student Sponsors

What better way to support the younger generation and help ensure the continued education of Rwanda’s young genocide survivors than by sponsoring a student?! We are currently looking for dedicated sponsors to help finance students in their pursuit of high school or university degrees. We ask that sponsors commit for the duration of the student’s program (2-4 years).  Costs range from approximately $2,000 to $2,500 per year depending on the student’s school program. The donated funds would cover all of the student’s expenses: tuition, accommodation, food and books.

You will also be able to have an email relationship with your sponsored student to get a first hand account of their challenges and accomplishments as they complete their studies.

We are pleased to announce that Ivy Fraser’s photo entitled ‘Curiosity’ (children in the Kabuga area of Rwanda) taken on the May 2012 Volunteer’s Trip was awarded with the Round Table 2nd Place Prize of $300! Congratulations to Ivy and thank you for the generous contribution!

Need a gift idea? Look no further!

If you are looking for a birthday, anniversary, wedding or other gifts, INSPIRE!africa has beautifully designed gift cards available for any occasion and for any amount.

We also have the book ‘The Present’s Presents’ a children's book about ethical giving where INSPIRE!africa is featured. ‘The Presents' Presents’ is a true compelling story of young Rae who makes the shift from wanting more and more presents to understanding the happiness that comes from "wanting" or "having" is not a lasting happiness. Rae and her friends learn that giving and feeling connected to others brings them more joy as they use their birthdays to raise money for worthy causes.
